Dear Mr. Ortmann, I have been pursuing my family history, and was excited to discover your website. My great-grandparents came from Orczydorf in 1922 - Magdalena Schemer, nee Bless or Blass, and my great-grandfather, Konrad Schemer.
My grandfather and uncle (Martin and Nicholas Schemer) returned to Orczydorf around 1928 and remained in school there for 5 years, before returning to College Point, New York. I would appreciate your posting this information on your website, in the event that anyone might have information regarding these individuals.
I believe that one of my great-uncles names might be engraved on a memorial in the Orczydorf Catholic church. His name was Johann Bless (Blass), and it is assumed that he died in the Black Sea sometime during WWI.
