ZUR PROZESSION
Robert Locher erzählt in seinem Beitrag in der Zeitschrift „Die Botschaft heute“ Seite 60 von einem Bekannten, der als einfacher Mitarbeiter eines großen Betriebes sein tägliches Brot verdiente. Bei einem Preisausschreiben zog er das große Los seines Lebens: er gewann einen Mercedes. Überglücklich fuhr der Mann schon am nächsten Tag mit seinem neuen Wagen in die Firma zur Arbeit. Kaum hatte er mit dem Arbeiten begonnen, ließ ihn der Chef rufen und sagte ihm in etwa: „Fahren Sie mit ihrem Mercedes am Wochenende mit ihrer Familie spazieren, machen sie damit sonst, was sie immer wollen, aber kommen sie mit dem Mercedes nicht mehr in die Firma. Es gehört sich nicht dasselbe oder gar ein noch größeres Auto zu fahren als der Chef.“ Das ist die Denkweise dieser Welt, die sich so ganz von der Einstellung Jesu unterscheidet.
Der Mercedes heute, war damals das Ross, das Pferd. Es war das Reittier der großen Könige. Zu einem der hoch zu Ross daherkommt, schaut man auf, er stellte jemanden dar. Einen Esel hingegen hatte fast jeder. Als Arbeitstier schultert er die schwersten Lasten. Zudem ist er meist friedlich und genügsam. Soll den darauf der Messias in seine Stadt einziehen? Der Evangelist Matthäus findet schon beim Propheten Sacharja 9,9 einen Hinweis. Der Messiaskönig kommt auf dem Lasttier der einfachen Leute. Jesus zieht von Bet-Phage am Ölberg in seine Stadt Jerusalem ein „auf einem geliehen Esel, den er gleich hernach seinem Besitzer zurückgeben lässt“ – wie Papst Benedikt in seinem neuen Jesusbuch ausführt(Jesus von Nazareth Seite 18) Er macht von dem Vorrecht der Könige gebrauch Transportmittel aus dem Besitz anderer für sich zu beanspruchen und das Tier erstmals zu besteigen. Bezugnehmend auf den Propheten Sacharja 9,9 kommt er somit als ein König der Armen, der den Kriegsbogen zerbricht und Frieden bringt. Jesus baut nicht auf Gewalt. Seine Macht ist anderer Art: es ist der Friede Gottes, indem er die allein rettende Macht sieht.
Statt rotem Teppich und aufwendiger Satteldecke dienen ihm die Kleider der Menschen, statt Fahnen und Standarten die Zweige, statt festlichem Siegeszug, ein spontaner Umzug, bei dem auch Kinder mitmachen können. So ist der Palmsonntag auch besonders ein Tag der Kinder, der „pueri haebraeorum“.
Dabei singen sie Gebetsworte der Pilgerliturgie aus dem Psalm 118: Hosanna, „Hilf doch Gott!“, Gesegnet sei er, der kommt im Namen des Herrn!“ Zunächst war dieser Ausruf ein Bittgebet um Regen während des Laubhüttenfestes, erhielt jedoch recht bald messianische Bedeutung, indem er sich zum Jubelruf wandelte, vor allem bei der Begrüßung der Pilger. Diese Worte werden im Sanktuslied einer jeden hl. Messe wiederholt. „Wie der Herr damals auf dem Esel in die Hl. Stadt einzog, so sah ihn die Kirche in der demütigen Gestalt von Brot und Wein immer neu kommen.“
Fahr keinen größeren Wagen als der Chef, könnte auch bedeuten, der Schüler ist nicht über seinen Meister. Dass wir ihm in dieser Woche besonders intensiv nachfolgen, nicht nur bei seinem Einzug, sondern auch auf seinem Kreuzweg.
